Back in 2018, I was working a corporate gig that honestly made me feel like my soul was slowly turning into beige wallpaper. You know that feeling?
So I started hiking. Like, a LOT. Every weekend I'd head out to the BC wilderness, and that's when it hit me - the way ferns unfurl next to moss-covered logs, how wild roses tangle through forest clearings, the gorgeous chaos of nature doing its thing without any "rules." That stuff doesn't need a design book to look absolutely stunning.
I started bringing flowers back (responsibly, don't worry), playing around with arrangements that felt more... real. Less cookie-cutter, more wild child. Friends started asking if I could do their weddings, and suddenly I was knee-deep in petals trying to figure out what the heck a boutonniere was supposed to look like.
Fun fact: Our first "studio" was literally my apartment balcony. My neighbors probably thought I was running some kind of weird plant cult. They weren't entirely wrong.
What Makes Us Different (Besides Being Slightly Obsessed)
We're Wilderness Nerds
Every design starts with nature walks. I'm serious - we spend hours just wandering trails, checking out how branches twist, noticing color combinations that shouldn't work but totally do. Our inspiration isn't from Pinterest boards (though no shame if that's your thing), it's from actual dirt-under-our-nails field research.
Local's Our Love Language
About 80% of what we use comes from BC growers. We've got relationships with small farms around the Fraser Valley, some folks up in the Interior, even a few foragers who bring us the good stuff. Yeah, it costs more and sometimes means we can't get certain blooms, but supporting our community? That's non-negotiable.
Sustainable-ish (We're Trying, Okay?)
Look, we're not perfect. But we compost everything we can, reuse mechanics when possible, and we've switched to biodegradable floral foam alternatives even though they're honestly kind of a pain to work with. We take workshops, keep learning, and do better every season. That's all anyone can do, right?
No Two Pieces Match
Templates? Don't know her. Every arrangement's built fresh based on what's in season and what feels right that day. Sure, it means we can't promise your bouquet'll look exactly like the photo, but you're getting something unique that won't show up in twelve other Instagram feeds. Trade-off worth making, if you ask me.
The Actual Humans Behind This
We're a small crew - just four of us full-time, plus some amazing seasonal help when weddings get crazy in summer. We've all got different backgrounds (graphic design, horticulture, event planning, and one former barista who makes the best coffee you've ever tasted), but we're all weirdly passionate about plants.
Our studio in Vancouver's become this creative space where honestly half the time we're just geeking out over a cool piece of driftwood someone found or debating whether adding thistle to a bridal bouquet is genius or grounds for getting kicked out of the wedding industry. (It's genius, by the way.)
We do custom wedding and event work, weekly subscriptions for folks who want fresh flowers without the commitment issues, corporate installations, sympathy pieces that actually feel meaningful, and seasonal collections featuring whatever's popping off in the wild.
